Australian broadcaster Daniel Garb has told 67 Hail Hail about the potential of reportedly imminent Celtic arrival Riley McGree, and it’ll surely excite the Hoops faithful.
The Daily Record reported yesterday that McGree will shortly be on his way to Celtic. He was impressive in his most recent spell, a stint with Birmingham City in the Championship. Now, thanks to Ange Postecoglou’s special effort to bring him to Celtic, City fans will have to watch McGree from a distance.
And Garb [Twitter], who’s worked for ABC Sport amongst others, told 67 Hail Hail’s Hamish Carton about how McGree has met the standards of everywhere he’s played.

Garb told 67 Hail Hail: “One thing I’ve loved about Riley… whenever he’s been asked to lift with the standard, he’s gone with it.
“So Adelaide, coming into the team, then he plays in Asian Champions League games against better teams, he plays well. Gets called up to the Socceroos, looks fine.
“Goes overseas and plays for Birmingham, no issue, stars for them. Birmingham fans are furious that he’s going back to Charlotte. So when it comes to Celtic, I just don’t see why he won’t be able to lift with the standard again. Especially when he’s got a manager who has faith in him and knows his background.
“I think it’s one to get excited about.”
Celtic have already done excellent transfer business, Riley McGree is another piece of exciting puzzle
Now, this is encouraging to hear. McGree has always had ability, perhaps shown in its purest form with a Puskas Award-nominated goal [BT Sport].
His career, though, seems to have been an unusual one. He’s clearly had the talent to play for big clubs, but Club Brugge didn’t utilise him well enough. Charlotte FC, who haven’t even played an MLS game yet, seem willing to part with him.
It’s strange, but it’s advantageous for Celtic, should he indeed arrive at the club. A creative force in the midfield, McGree would surely take some pressure off Rogic or Turnbull as the season progresses. He’s an extra innovative spark, and one that Ange Postecoglou already knows well.

This whole January transfer window has been dramatic and ultimately exciting for Celtic supporters. At times, it’s almost hard keeping track of what we’re doing; in the best possible way. It’s quite a unique feeling for a winter window, if you’re a Celtic supporter.
But these comments are exciting, and so is the potential of Riley McGree lining up for Celtic. Perhaps here, he can find a home, and find permanence amongst his goals and assists.
