Celtic were in inspired form last weekend after recording a thumping 6-0 victory over St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park.
In a clash where the visitors proved utterly dominant, Kyogo Furuhashi’s double, alongside goals from Paulo Bernardo, Callum McGregor, Daizen Maeda and Adam Idah, provided a result to match their ruthless display.
Notably, several of Celtic’s summer signings came off the bench to play their part. Auston Trusty started on the right-hand side of defence and preserved the Bhoys’ clean sheet, while Alex Valle’s viral assist has made headlines across the globe.
All in all, Brendan Rodgers’ reigning champions couldn’t have picked a better way to prepare for their trip to face Borussia Dortmund tomorrow as they now turn their attention to endeavours in the Champions League.
Before the tie at Signal Iduna Park takes place, here is what Trusty and Valle had to say after Celtic thumped St Johnstone.
Auston Trusty’s reaction to dominant Celtic victory
Taking to Instagram, United States international Trusty thanked the Celtic support for their ‘amazing’ backing on Perth alongside sharing his delight at keeping a clean sheet.
He said: “3 points and a clean sheet. Traveling supporters were amazing. See you all in Germany on Tuesday.”
Whether Trusty is given the nod to start in Dortmund tomorrow remains to be seen. Nevertheless, he was a composed presence in an unfamiliar right-sided role and didn’t look out of place at McDiarmid Park.
Responding in the comments, Valle replied with two fire emojis, indicating he was just as impressed by his teammates’ display as the travelling support who made the journey.

In similar fashion, Barcelona loanee Valle also thanked fans for their support alongside providing a flavour of what is to come from Celtic in Germany.
On the social media platform, Valle wrote: “More to go on Tuesday, thanks for the amazing support.”
Undoubtedly, his backheel assist was the main takeaway regarding his performance. However, the 20-year-old’s second-half exploits were encouraging on the whole as he deputised for Greg Taylor.
You get the impression there is more to come from Valle. With minutes under his belt, his potential to grow into a role in the side is clear for all to see.
Exciting times are on the horizon for Celtic supporters. Following another crystallisation of that last weekend, optimism couldn’t be higher ahead of facing Borussia Dortmund in their own backyard. Hail Hail!
