The big one is here for Celtic and Brendan Rodgers.

There has been big progress made by Celtic in the Champions League this season and now it’s the test of Bayern Munich.

Yes, the champions of Scotland are underdogs, but with the first leg at Parkhead, what a chance to put a win on the board and go to Munich next week with something to fight for.

Auston Trusty was rested for Celtic’s win over Raith Rovers on Saturday in the Scottish Cup, but he is expected to start alongside Cameron Carter-Vickers against Bayern.

The American will have his work cut out because he will be up against some of the world’s best attackers, none more than the England captain and striker, Harry Kane.

But forget about Bayern’s attacking players Celtic will have to deal with, what about the forward players in green and white players who the opposition should have sleepless nights about?!

Daizen Maeda available to play for Celtic against Bayern Munich in the Champions League

The one big dampener for Celtic heading into the Bayern game was the fact that Daizen Maeda was suspended after picking up a two-match ban for getting sent off against Young Boys.

Then, on Monday evening, Celtic fans brought the news everyone wanted to hear and that’s Maeda’s ban being reduced.

That means the Japan star is now available for the first leg and this could be the possible difference between a first-leg win and heading to Munich empty-handed.

Auston Trusty ‘happy’ to be playing alongside Maeda

Maeda netted a hat-trick against Raith Rovers over the weekend, playing the entire match, but that was before his ban was reduced.

Trusty shared his thoughts on his all-action teammate and how it’s ‘amazing’ that he will be available after UEFA’s call, as he told his pre-match press conference.

The American added that he is also ‘happy’ to play alongside a forward of Maeda’s quality, but he hardly gets the chance to come up against him in training.

“Daizen is amazing,” said Trusty. “He is really, really good. I am happy he is on my side and I am happy to play with him.

“In training, we train a good bit, but a lot of it is recovery, so you don’t get the chance to go one-v-one. A lot of guys working on their individual skills. But Daizen is amazing.”
