Auston Trusty is starting to settle in pretty well in Celtic colours.

The 26-year-old joined the Scottish champions in the summer with a pretty healthy reputation because he had come through at Arsenal and also represented Sheffield United in the Premier League.

Fast forward to the present and Trusty has dethroned Liam Scales from the starting spot, even though the Irishman hasn’t done much wrong.

That’s the nature of the business and it’s one of the reasons why Celtic have such a strong squad under Brendan Rodgers.

It has been proven in the Champions League this season, with Rodgers guiding the team to nine points and back-to-back clean sheets away from home.

That includes Celtic’s goalless draw against Dinamo Zagreb on Tuesday night, with the result and performance resulting in mixed responses from fans.

It’s fair to say that Trusty is in the same boat as the Celtic fans.

Auston Trusty says Celtic are ‘angry’ they didn’t beat Dinamo Zagreb

Trusty played the entire match in Croatia’s capital and, from a defensive standpoint, had little to do as the away side dominated possession.

But the Bhoys didn’t talk enough with the ball and can’t have too many complaints about not scoring.

Speaking to the legendary keeper Peter Schmeichel, Trusty was pretty honest by stating that he is ‘angry’ Celtic didn’t win, but understands the difficult nature of playing on the road in Europe, as he told CBS Sports.

Peter asked: “Another clean sheet away from home in the Champions League. Another point won, you are on nine points now. How do you assess (the Dinamo Zagreb performance)?”

“To get a point away from home in the Champions League, you can’t take that for granted,” responded Trusty.

“We will go back, look at this game and be a little bit angry that we didn’t come here and get three points. I think we should have. I think we needed to create a little bit more chances. We have to learn from it.”

Trusty hails Celtic’s character in the Champions League after Borussia Dortmund drubbing

After matchday two in the Champions League, morale was on the floor because Celtic had conceded seven goals against Borussia Dortmund.

It was a nightmare start and many were fearing the worst because they felt old problems were rearing their ugly heads again.

But fast forward to the present and Celtic have kept back-to-back clean sheets on the road, with Peter Schmeichel wanting to know what changed.

Peter also asked: “Your first away game was in Dortmund, conceded seven goals and since then you have kept two clean sheets. What has been the difference between that game to these two away games you have played:”

Trusty added: “That was just an off-game for us. It was one of those days where you forget about it and move on.

“It shows the true characterises of the team, to have that low in the Champions League and then be able to bounce back from that. Not a lot of teams can do that, so it shows a lot of characteristics of the team. We have been able to bounce back from it and move on and get better results.”
