Everyone is talking about Celtic’s manager situation, whilst the team have a crucial game to worry about.

Martin O’Neill will guide the Hoops out against Feyenoord at De Kuip tonight, in his sixth game since making his stunning interim return.

However, it seems that Wilfried Nancy will be in the door as his replacement next week. The Columbus Crew boss has been identified as Rodgers’ successor by Paul Tisdale.

Nancy is an unknown quantity given his lack of European experience, but he comes with a strong reputation, having won multiple trophies in Ohio.

Bhoys defender Auston Trusty knows MLS well – he was asked about the seemingly incoming boss ahead of the Feyenoord clash.

Auston Trusty on MLS after Wilfried Nancy to Celtic question

Trusty is just back from international duty with the USA, where he shared a dressing room with multiple Columbus players.

He admitted to having a few questions for them, but has kept his gathered information close to his chest.

When Nancy was raised at the press conference, he was passionate in his defence of his homeland league.

But firstly, he said of Nancy: “I haven’t had a huge amount of conversations about him.”

“But all I’ve heard is that he’s a good guy and a good coach.

“The MLS has definitely grown as a league. From the outside, I think a lot of time people maybe shun it a little bit or look down on it.

“Maybe that’s partly because football isn’t the biggest sport in America. You have NFL, the NBA, baseball – all that stuff.

“But the quality of the league is good. There’s a lot of athletic players and a lot of really smart players. It’s growing and getting better every year.

“I guess it’s about trying to change those perceptions of how some people maybe look down on the MLS. That’s the whole point of what we do in the US.”

Trusty made over 100 appearances in MLS for Philadelphia Union and Colorado Rapids before earning a move to Arsenal.

Who will be coming to Celtic alongside Wilfried Nancy?

One of the main reasons for Celtic’s interest in Nancy is his assistant, Kwame Ampadu, who knows Tisdale from their time working together at Exeter.

35-year-old coach Yoann Damet is also reportedly of interest, but could be convinced to stay in Columbus if offered the top job.

Uruguayan forward Diego Rossi is one of Nancy’s key players in Columbus and could be a January target.

Wessam Abou Ali’s name has also been linked, but the Palestine striker only made the move to the Crew in the summer.

“It wasn’t a fluke run, it wasn’t a lot of luck, it wasn’t set pieces, it wasn’t teams missing chances, they were the dominant team in MLS that season.” 🤯
