The defeats suffered by Celtic and Rangers last weekend have opened up a huge debate amongst pundits and former players about who they think will win the league this season.

For the first time in almost two decades, both Glasgow clubs dropped points in the same weekend in results that shocked Scottish football and beyond.

Although poor refereeing decisions largely influenced Celtic’s result, the same cannot be said for the Rangers one. Have the Ibrox club felt their first wobble as the title race hots up? They very well may have.

And that prompted Sheffield Wednesday star and lifelong Celtic fan, Barry Bannan, to offer who he thinks will win the title now.

Appearing on the talkSPORT Breakfast Show with Alan Brazil and Gabby Agbonlahor, the former Aston Villa man asked Bannan to give his prediction.

The Scottish international midfielder did not disappoint.

Bannan said [talkSPORT], “I knew you were going to bring this up, you’ve been waiting on this for a while, haven’t you?

“I’m still confident in Celtic. I think obviously, there’s a title race for the first time in years which is great for Scottish football.”

There is still much to play for and with the way both teams have been performing this season, it will be a close fight to the finish.

With my Celtic head on, I still believe Brendan Rodgers will have enough about them to this over the line.

We are entering a decent run of form and are also getting some of our big hitters back whilst Rangers do seem to be stuttering slightly.

If we can take care of the two remaining Glasgow Derby‘s then there is no doubt that Rodgers will bring home the league title.

All he needs to do is stop dropping silly points in the remaining seven games out with the Rangers games.

Easier said than done, I suppose, but with the talent at his disposal, I feel the Celtic manager will prevail and get us into the group stages of next season’s Champions League.
