The January transfer window is fast approaching and Celtic have some big calls to make.
Yes, all eyes will be on who Brendan Rodgers might bring into the building and just how far he can push the boat out from a financial perspective.
You suspect, this is the ideal time for Celtic to spend and further enhance the squad, simply because of how well they are doing and you should always refresh when you are on top.
But perhaps the biggest talking point in January will be what happens to a few of the current stars at the club and their current situations.
It’s understandable if a player not earning game time wants to leave – either on loan or a permanent basis – because they can’t afford to sit on the bench or not be in the matchday squad.
But Rodgers doesn’t want his starting players to be talking to foreign clubs because that’s exactly what Greg Taylor can do.
Barry Ferguson doesn’t think Greg Taylor will ‘spit his dummy out’ over Celtic situation
Taylor is out of contract at Celtic next summer and he can sign a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club after the New Year, if he pleases.
As of this moment, there aren’t any signs that he will pen a new deal, with Barry Ferguson claiming that, in terms of salary, he will be in the ‘bottom tier’ at Celtic, as he told Go Radio.
Ferguson added that ‘you know what you are getting’ with Taylor and how he also ‘understands Rodgers’ system’.

“You generally have tiers at the club and I would imagine Greg Taylor would be in the bottom kind of tier of salaries,” said Ferguson.
“But one thing, for £2 million, if you look at his overall Celtic career. You know what you are getting. He is steady. He understands the system that Brendan Rodgers plays. He did start out as a central midfielder in his younger days at Kilmarnock. You can see that he looks comfortable with the way inverted fullbacks come in and be central midfielders
“He is one of those players, you know what you are getting. I don’t think he would be spitting the dummy out if he weren’t playing every week. He doesn’t kind of strike me as that sort of guy, so it will be interesting to see. Am I surprised that they have let it run this long? I would imagine there would be teams interested in him. Then you look at the age of Greg Taylor, this is probably his last big contract, so I am sure he will want to make sure it’s right for him and his family.”
Taylor’s stats for Celtic this season
There is talk of Celtic bringing in Kieran Tierney amid his current Arsenal situation and injury problems during the past few years.
If that happens, then Taylor, even if he signs a new contract, will be pushed down the pecking order.
But right now, he is ahead of on-loan Barcelona star Alex Valle, in terms of being a starter for Celtic and WhoScored have rated his overall performances at 6.98.
