A fair few of Celtic’s Champions League opponents, from this season, are still clawing and fighting to progress in the competition.
Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich, and Aston Villa, who all faced Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic at some stage during the revamped Champions League, are still plugging away and hoping to do the unthinkable.
Europe’s elite tournament is at the quarter-final stages, and on Tuesday night, Arsenal, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Inter kicked things off.
Many would have seen Celtic hero Kieran Tierney helping Arsenal beat Real Madrid – the return legs take place next Tuesday and Wednesday night – but Bayern were also in action.
Bayern knocked out Celtic at the playoff stage when Alphonso Davies’ late equaliser broke Celtic hearts and ended their hopes of reaching the last-16.
But now, Vincent Kompany’s side are suffering the same emotions the Celtic Park faithful had to go through.

Inter beat Bayern in the Champions League with a late Davide Frattesi goal
Of course, there is a second leg to be played, but considering that it’s now at the San Siro, you make Simone Inzaghi’s Inter favourites to progress.
Celtic were unfortunate to get beaten at home – by the same 2-1 margin – and then had their work cut out in the return leg in Bavaria.
Now, everyone will see how Bayern will react, and if they can show the same fight that Celtic did for most of that second leg.
Harry Kane missed a gilt-edged chance to score during the Inter game – why weren’t his shooting boots missing against Celtic?
But, despite veteran Thomas Muller scoring from the bench – and equalising in the 85th minute – Davide Frattesi struck minutes later for the winner, and the huge advantage.
The record Celtic could have ended…but now Inter have
During the last decade, only PSG, Liverpool and Real Madrid had won in Bayern’s backyard.
That proved the almighty difficult task Celtic were up against in February, and how their efforts shouldn’t be discounted.
But the fact of the matter is, Celtic lost, and now it’s Inter who have ended Bayern’s long unbeaten home run, stretching back to an impressive 22 matches.
