Celtic look like they are facing a title challenge from Hearts this season.

With Rangers collapsing at the start of the new season, it looks like their challenge to Celtic may already be over.

But it seems that Hearts are standing up to Celtic this season after the Edinburgh club took the top spot in the Scottish Premiership table at the weekend.

However, that didn’t stop former Celtic man and now BBC pundit Cillian Sheridan from piling more pressure on Rangers as he made his title prediction crystal clear.

Cillian Sheridan tells Rangers Celtic will still win the league despite ‘underperforming’

Rangers might get a little kickback from their lucky win at Livingston at the weekend, especially after Celtic drew with Hibs.

But despite that, Sheridan still believes Celtic are favourites for the league title as he piles more pressure onto Ibrox boss Russell Martin.

Sheridan told The Scottish Football Podcast, “They’re still slightly underperforming, but they’re going to be favourites to win the league.

“So Rangers are always going to be compared to that, and that’s always going to be the challenge. So for Russell Martin or whoever was going to be coming in, it’s not a case of you’re not going to get the time to try and build a club up or build a team up or the squads to where they’re going to be competing and gelling in together.

“It has to be you come in, you need to be better than Celtic. And if you’re not, then it’s failure, it’s pressure. That’s probably a weird feeling for a lot of fans.”

Celtic prepare for more than beating Rangers to the title

Celtic have more on their plate than beating Rangers to the title this season.

The Europa League campaign is set to keep Brendan Rodgers busy as the Celtic boss looks for his first win against SC Braga on Thursday night.

The Celtic fan protests are also a concern for the club as supporters demand change in the boardroom. And whilst the club will always have one eye on what’s going on at Ibrox, surely the Hearts challenge is more pressing for the Parkhead club?
