Celtic’s protests against the Parkhead board are in full swing now.
Celtic fans’ first of three silent protests was completed against Hibs this weekend during a 0-0 draw with David Gray’s side.
By the looks and sound of it, the silence was well observed as fans show the Celtic board just how unhappy they are at how they are running the club.
And whilst this course of action appeared to split fan opinion on social media, BBC pitch-side reporter Martin Dowden shared what he saw happen at Celtic Park and what he noticed about the protest from inside the stadium.

Celtic fans’ ‘eerie’ silence against the board was well observed
Whilst the fan opinion was split, there might have been a worry that the majority of Celtic supporters may not observe the silence.
But Dowden appears to confirm that the vast bulk of fans inside Celtic Park went along with the protest.
Dowden said on the BBC, “Not all, but some home supporters were protesting with silence against their board until the 12th minute.
“That’s created a slightly eerie feel around the stadium, which has potentially helped Hibs.
“It’s over now, with the decibels rising.”
Celtic’s next two scheduled silent protests
There are another two protests organised for Celtic Park next week as the action against the board continues.
- Celtic vs SC Braga in the Europa League
- Celtic vs Motherwell in the Scottish Premiership
Whilst many may not agree with this particular stance, what cannot be denied is that the protests are certainly embarrassing to the board.
The headlines and publicity surrounding the protests keep the spotlight on the Celtic board’s failures and fans will be hoping that this will force the club into making changes to the executive team that runs the club.
