Benfica supporters wowed by Jota Celtic display; compare to £18m man
Benfica supporters have been left impressed by the performance of Jota for Celtic against La Liga side Real Betis.
The winger, on loan from the Portuguese club, dazzled with some silky skills and a devilish assist during the 4-3 Europa League encounter.
A highlights reel of his individual contributions has been circulating on social media all day and has made its way to Portugal.
Celtic actually have an option to buy on the young talent’s season-long loan, so there’s a chance he never wears a Benfica shirt again. If he settles well in Glasgow and the Bhoys push the boat out on a permanent fee, we could well enjoy him for many years.
There’s a long, long way to go before all that though. First, we need to see if Jota can perform consistently for the Hoops.
The fact he stepped up to play so well last night against quality opposition certainly bodes well. Everyone is very excited to see what he can do against Livingston on Sunday and in more domestic matches ahead.
