Former Celtic midfielder Beram Kayal has admitted that he would love to return to the club and help achieve 10-in-a-row.
Kayal was one of Neil Lennon’s first ever signings for Celtic back in the summer of 2010. The Israeli international went on to make over 130 appearances for the club before leaving for Brighton.
However, his five-year association with the Seagulls has now come to an end. Kayal is a free agent, and has admitted that he has received interest from clubs already.

But speaking in comments published by the Daily Record, he stressed that he would love to make a comeback at Parkhead under the man who initially brought him to the UK.
“Tell Lenny I want to come back! At the moment, I have some interest, but I need to wait as clubs are waiting.
“I would like a big challenge and I am open to everything. I know Celtic have many midfielders and have just signed one and there is no point in going somewhere when I am not needed.
“But everyone knows I would love to go back to Celtic. It started my career in Europe and it would be amazing to do Ten in a Row with Lenny. I’ll have the phone on waiting for him to call if he needs me!”
Simply not needed
If things were different, Kayal would certainly be a player worth looking at. Having racked up over 100 appearances in England across both the Championship and Premier League, the Israeli has certainly made a decent career for himself since leaving Glasgow.
However, with regards to bringing him back, it just isn’t the right time.
Having just signed David Turnbull from Motherwell, Celtic now have a host of options in the midfield including Scott Brown, Callum McGregor, Turnbull, Olivier Ntcham, and Ismaila Soro. That’s before you even talk about youngsters such as Luca Connell and Scott Robertson.

As of right now, Celtic have glaring holes in several positions. The club has still to replace Jozo Simunovic, whilst James Forrest remains in desperate need of some cover. You could also argue a first-choice left-back is another necessity.
When it comes to the transfer priority list, another midfielder isn’t even on it nevermind somewhere down the bottom.
At 32, Kayal will be coming to the end of his peak years, meaning a return to Celtic as a player looks like a door that’s close to shutting permanently. But hopefully he’ll be supporting the team this season and cheering us on in the quest for 10.
