Celtic increased the gap to Rangers to 16 points this weekend.
After the Rangers lost to Motherwell, Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic took care of St Mirren in Paisley to take the Bhoys within three games of winning the title.
However, Rangers have had their chances to close the gap to Celtic but have failed on numerous occasions and pundit Marvin Bartley, has pointed out the reason why Barry Ferguson’s side just didn’t take their chances.

Marvin Bartley hails Celtic’s mentality compared to Rangers
After Celtic took care of St Mirren, Bartley wasted no time in telling Rangers exactly why they can’t get close to the Scottish champions.
Bartley said on X, “That’s biggest difference for me.
“Celtic lose to Hibs and Rangers couldn’t take advantage! Roles are reversed this week and Celtic go and do what they have to do.
“Five goals along the way! Biggest difference between the two squads is mentality for me.”
Celtic’s record vs Rangers as Brendan Rodgers closes in on another title
Celtic have enjoyed a good record against Rangers since Brendan Rodgers took the Pakrhead hotseat two summers ago.
Since then, the Celtic manager has been relentless in defending his title and his record against Rangers isn’t too bad either:
- 01.09.2024: Celtic 3 v 0 Rangers
- 15.12.2024: League Cup final@ – Celtic 3 v 3 Rangers [Celtic win 5-4 on penalties]
- 02.01.2025: Rangers 3 v 0 Celtic
With just one blot on his record since his return to Celtic, Rodgers has enjoyed near total-domination over Rangers as the next Glasgow Derby nears.
