The League Cup sponsors, Premier Sports have a mouthwatering tie with Celtic and Rangers to look forward to next month.

Celtic beat Aberdeen to book their place in the final after Jimmy Thelin’s side were swept away by the Parkhead club on Saturday.

Rangers then booked their place by overcoming Motherwell who put in a gutsy first-half Hampden performance that almost paid off yesterday afternoon.

And predicting who will win the final in December, Billy Dodds sounded a wee bit gutted as he gave his big verdict on who will be victorious out of Celtic and Rangers next month.

‘Incredible’ Celtic tipped to beat Rangers in the League Cup

The former Rangers striker was covering the Motherwell vs Rangers semi-final when he was asked who he thought could lift the trophy in December.

Dodds told BBC Sportsound, “Yeah, you would have to say that. I mean, Celtic were incredible yesterday. Aberdeen, remember, were for half an hour.

“Mitov never had a save to make and suddenly loses three in 11 minutes. So they were sensational. Rangers, it’s all about getting through and getting a shot at them.

“I think that’s where Rangers are at and hopefully they can get their performance levels up and give Celtic a game.

“But you would have to say if you’re asking me who are the favourites, of course it’s Celtic.”

Before the next international break kicks in, Celtic face RB Leipzig in the Champions League tomorrow night and then Club Brugge on the 27th of November. Dinamo Zagreb is Celtic’s last fixture before the Hampden final.

Kilmarnock are up next in the Scottish Premiership on the 10th of November with Hearts (23rd), Ross County (30th), Aberdeen (4th December) and then Hibs (7th December).

Brendan Rodgers’ squad is going to be tested to the max as Celtic look to lift the first piece of silverware of the season against Rangers as the Hoops boss tried to get his hands on the trophy he missed out on last year.
