Celtic are set to face Inverness Caley Thistle in the Scottish Cup Final this Saturday. A win for Celtic will complete another domestic treble whilst a win for Inverness will see the return of those dreaded headlines we had to suffer over 20 years ago.
Whilst taking nothing for granted, Celtic are the overwhelming favourites to lift the cup. But Inverness manager, Billy Dodds believes that his team carry a threat that he thinks can cause an upset this coming Saturday.
Dodds said [Sky Sports], “I think we’ve got to gather belief from the way we’ve played in the competition so far. This competition is all about miracles and you look no further than this season when Darvel beat Aberdeen.

“So that’s the theme of the competition we’ve seen so far. Make no mistake, Ange Postecoglou’s Celtic have been brilliant all season. And we see their form last weekend against Aberdeen.
“So we know we’re up against it. I’ve got a team who on the day can certainly hurt teams. And I think through the season there’s not been many games where we’ve not scored or we’ve registered a zero.
“Probably three or four games throughout the season. So we can score goals. We just have to find a way to try and get to Celtic. We know we are going to face long periods of possession against us. We’re going to have to work hard off the ball but I’ve got players on this team that can hopefully hurt any opposition.”
Looking closer at this stat, Dodds is slightly off with this one. Including cup competitions, Inverness have failed to score on eight occasions this season which, for a team that finished in the bottom half of the Scottish Championship, still isn’t bad going.

But Celtic will be looking at their own goal-scoring form this season to see them through. Ange Postecoglou’s men have failed to hit the back of the net on only two occasions so far. The 2-0 defeat to St Mirren and the 3-0 Ibrox loss are the only black marks against Celtic’s goal threat.
But not only that, we also have the best defence in the country. But none of this will matter to Ange Postecolgou going into the game at the weekend.
The Celtic manager, and the fans, will take nothing for granted ahead of the 530pm kick-off on Saturday. They will give Inverness the respect they deserve but will be fully focused on bringing the Scottish Cup back to Celtic Park for the 41st time in our history.
