Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that Cameron Carter-Vickers and Maik Nawrocki will be out for a prolonged period of time.
The Celtic manager has confirmed that both defenders will be out for two months as per Sky Sports’ reporter Anthony Joseph on Twitter this afternoon.
Joseph tweeted, “Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that centre-backs Cameron Carter-Vickers and Maik Nawrocki will be out for around two months with injuries.”
The news will come as a serious blow to the Hoops and means that both will definitely miss the first Glasgow Derby of the season and are looking unlikely to make Celtic’s opening Champions League group stage game which is due to kick off on either the 19th or 20th September.
Celtic have been reeling of late with a spate of injuries and both defenders join Stephen Welsh for a lengthy spell on the treatment table.
Carter-Vickers was replaced at halftime against Aberdeen at Pittodrie. At the time, Brendan Rodgers said the US defender had felt a problem with his hamstring.
For Nawrocki, the Polish u21 defender has the same issue and after today’s update, Celtic are now left with three centre-backs out with long-term injuries.

This news is bitterly disappointing and further compounds Brendan Rodgers’ luck this season. With Reo Hatate, Marco Tilio, Mikey Johnston and Hyeongyu Oh all out, the only bit of good news Rodgers has had this week is that Alistair Johnston has returned to training.
With St Johnstone coming to town on Saturday and Rangers up at Ibrox next week, the Celtic manager will be looking forward to the upcoming international break to be able to get his side together and give them some much-needed rest and recuperation.
This news also further presses home the need for Rodgers to possibly look to the transfer market and maybe bring in a short-term fix in the way of a loan because the central defence issue is now looking rather grim.
