Brendan Rodgers has once again addressed his contract situation at Celtic.

The Hoops manager signed a three-year deal upon his return to Paradise in June 2023 and that contract will expire next summer.

Talks were held with CEO Michael Nicholson and majority shareholder Dermot Desmond over the summer, but nothing has been signed yet.

Rodgers has repeatedly stressed he plans to see out his deal this season and will not walk away like he did in 2019 under any circumstances.

Rodgers confirms no new Celtic contract update

But as of Friday’s pre-Hibs presser, there’s no sign of him extending his stay.

Rodgers was asked if there was an update on his contract, but simply replied: “There is nothing as of yet, no.”

Rodgers addresses January transfer window plans

Meanwhile, Rodgers was also quizzed on whether the plan is to conduct transfers early in the January 2026 window given what happened in the summer.

Celtic were left scrambling for new signings on deadline day and failed to buy a new striker to replace Adam Idah, who left for Swansea City.

The Hoops tried to lowball their way through negotiations with several targets, but that strategy backfired massively.

Rodgers said: “Yeah, I really hope so. I think that at this moment in time, for me, it’s the scouting team who knows exactly what we’re after and what we missed out on in the summer market.

“So, again, a lot of work goes into that. It’s a smaller window, of course, so you have to be slick, you have to be prepared, ready and look to get the business done as early as we possibly can.

“I am hopeful that we could learn from that and hopefully, close that out better in the January window.”
