Kelechi Iheanacho has made an incredible start to his Celtic career.

The Nigerian striker is preparing for his fourth appearance this weekend against Hibs in the Scottish Premiership.

And he’ll go into the game with three goal contributions already, his first coming against Kilmarnock from the penalty spot.

Iheanacho then assisted in the victory over Partick Thistle in the Premier Sports Cup, before coming off the bench to earn Celtic a point away to Red Star Belgrade on Wednesday.

On Friday, Iheanacho sat down with the press at Lennoxtown to discuss his time with the Bhoys so far.

Iheanacho singles out James Forrest, Callum McGregor & Kasper Schmeichel

Iheanacho was asked by a reporter who he has been impressed with at Celtic so far, and who’s left a good first impression.

The 28-year-old responded by naming Celtic’s most decorated player James Forrest, skipper Callum McGregor, and former Leicester City teammate Kasper Schmeichel.

He said: “Yeah, to be fair, obviously I said to James when I came in that since I’ve come to the UK, I’ve been obviously hearing the name Forrest for a long long time.

“He’s still here playing and he’s a legend at this club, so I just said that to him. Obviously I’ve been hearing his name for a long time and he’s a great pleasure for me.

“And obviously the captain (McGregor) has been here for a long time as well. And coming here meeting my friend Kaspar as well. I’m obviously happy to meet them.”

Forrest and McGregor’s incredible Celtic stats

It’s no wonder Iheanacho has felt an effect training alongside Forrest and McGregor, two modern Celtic legends.

Forrest has won a whopping 26 major domestic trophies at Parkhead, more than any other player and one more than Lisbon Lion Bobby Lennox.

The veteran winger has a great chance of adding to that tally this year, as does McGregor to his own tally of 24 honours.

As far as appearances are concerned, Forrest has 536 appearances while McGregor is currently on 527. Given the central midfielder plays more often than Forrest, he should overtake him this season.
