Brendan Rodgers has been receiving a number of plaudits this season for the style of football Celtic have been playing.
With a 100% win rate domestically, Rodgers’ Celtic has racked up an impressive 27 goals whilst conceding just three.
Celtic’s resounding wins over St Johnstone, Kilmarnock and Rangers in the league blew the fans away as well as the Bhoys beating a resilient Falkirk in the 5-2 League Cup win last month.
And as Brendan Rodgers looks to continue to demand flowing attacking football at Celtic, one player has shone after a tough start to his Hoops career.
Nicolas Kuhn is Celtic’s best-attacking threat
Nicolas Kuhn is having a great season at Celtic under Brendan Rodgers. Signed for £3m from Rapid Vienna, Kuhn’s struggles with illness seriously hampered the start of his Hoops career.
But now, with a full pre-season under his belt, the stats are showing that the German winger has become one of Celtic’s most potent attacking threats in the opening seven games of the season.
Rated at 8.07 by Fotmob, Kuhn is second only to Callum McGregor in terms of being the most consistent performer for Celtic this season.
From an attacking perspective, the 24-year-old is the club’s top performer on goals and assists with a combined total of seven, an xG (expected goals) of 3.6 and an xGOT (expected goals on target) of 3.9.
Kuhn is also averaging 0.58 goals every 90 minutes, 1.5 shots on target and 3.5 shots per game. In terms of goal creation, the creative winger has created 14 chances in total and four big chances for his Celtic teammates.
On top of all that, Kuhn averages 2.7 successful dribbles as he looks to unlock the opposition defences.
What Brendan Rodgers really thinks of Nicolas Kuhn at Celtic
Kuhn wowed the Celtic fans with his late winner in the defeat of Ross County at the weekend as he continues to impress this season.
However, it’s not just his attacking ability that has been catching Brendan Rodgers’ eye this season. Speaking after the Ross County win, Rodgers said of Kuhn, “He has been absolutely brilliant. I think his fitness, he’s looking more robust now, which is important when churning out the games.
“He looks a real threat for us. So, yeah, you always hope, and you want them to settle but he’s contributing in a big way and that’s what you need your wingers to do.

“They need to create goals and score goals, but also do the the dirty side of the game. And he’s doing it really, really well.”
And that is backed up by Kuhn’s defensive stats as well. Averaging 1.7 successful tackles every 90 minutes, the German is the second-best tackler at the club.
Kuhn also makes 0.4 interceptions per game, has won 34 duels and has also made 18 ball recoveries.
The pacey winger has made a real impact at Celtic and will be crucial to any success Rodgers has at the club over the course of this season.
