There’s still no definitive sign of where Celtic star Matt O’Riley will be after the closure of the summer transfer window.
The midfielder continues to excel in the Bhoys starting eleven, again selected for Sunday’s 3-1 win over Hibernian at Celtic Park.
However, we know that teams covet his signature with cash-rich sides such as Atalanta and Brighton showing interest throughout the summer months.
Brendan Rodgers was quizzed on his future by Premier Sports after the Scottish League Cup victory but the Celtic boss is as uncertain as anyone on what the future holds.
Matt O’Riley ‘really happy’ at Celtic
Asked if he expects the Danish international to still be with the club in September, the Celtic boss said: “I don’t know is the honest answer. You see with him that he is an incredibly talented player.
“There is a value we have for him, and if that’s not met he will be here – it’s as simple as that. He is really happy here, but it has to be something that draws him away.
“I am not overthinking it. We all know the model here at Celtic – players will improve and they will get to a level that goes beyond, not the club, but in terms of the financial salary. But until that comes we continue to work with him.”

No club has yet to truly test Celtic on O’Riley
For all the noise, nobody has come in with a bid that truly tests Celtic’s resolve on O’Riley and it has become apparent that the player is happy with the club’s stance on him.
He understands that the Bhoys should be getting fair value for his services having developed him into a Champions League calibre talent.
It’s obviously impossible to know what comes Celtic’s way over the next fortnight but with clubs picking up alternative options there’s a chance nobody shows the kind of cash that would force the Scottish champions into a decision. And to be honest, that’s fine with me.
