Brendan Rodgers is already a Celtic record-breaker.
In his first stint as the Celtic manager, Rodgers recorded an Invincibles Treble season in his first year in the job and followed it up with a Double Treble in his second.
Before he left Celtic in 2019, Rodgers already had the Hoops well on their way to a Treble Treble and now, he has his sights on another record that was set by Martin O’Neill.
The legendary former Celtic boss reignited the Hoops when he came to the club in 2000 but it seems that there is one thing Rodgers would like to steal from his five-year tenure at the club.

Brendan Rodgers chases Celtic Park record set by Martin O’Neill in 2004
Martin O’Neill’s Celtic was a superb footballing side with immense attacking intent and a formidable defence with the likes of Bobo Balde in the squad.
But it’s a goalscoring record from O’Neill’s time at Celtic, Rodgers and the squad have their eye on.
Rodgers told Celtic TV, “We’ve talked about the record home goals that has been scored here. I think it was in the 2003/04 season, was 62.
“So we are currently on fifty eight. So we know that over our next two games, if we get five goals, then we can beat that record so that’s one incentive.
“But two, every game matters at Celtic. So we go into today’s game [vs Hibs] looking to perform. I think our counter press is going to be very, very important in the game to stop their breakaways.
“So that means we have to be really on it, really working really hard.”
Martin O’Neill’s 2004 Celtic goals compared to Brendan Rodgers in 2025
After the 3-1 win over Hibs, Celtic need to score just two goals on Trophy Day against St Mirren to break that record.
However, how does O’Neill’s season in 2004 compare to Rodgers’ now as his Celtic team stand on the verge of another treble?
| Martin O’Neill season 2003/04 | Brendan Rodgers’ season 2024/25 |
| Wins: 31 | Wins: 26 |
| Total goals scored: 105 | Total goals scored: 97 |
| Goals conceded: 25 | Goals conceded: 22 |
| Points total: 98 | Points total: 81 |
| Top goal scorer: Henrik Larsson [41] | Top goal scorer: Daizen Maeda [33] |
| Silverware: League & Scottish Cup | Silverware: League Cup & League title |
With another trophy left to play for, Rodgers could end the season with another treble and record Celtic’s sixth treble since O’Neill lifted it in 2001.
