Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has been sweating over Kasper Schmeichel’s fitness over the last couple of days.
Schmeichel was injured in Denmark’s defeat to Portugal on Monday night, and it seems that it will leave Brendan Rodgers with a selection headache ahead of the Hearts game.
The Celtic manager has relied on Schmeichel in all but one game this season after the 39-year-old sat out the Bhoys’ win over Raith Rovers in the Scottish Cup.
However, with Hearts coming to visit Celtic Park over the weekend, it seems that Rodgers is set to make a big call on Schmeichel to start the game as the Hoops gaffer looks to get back to winning ways.

Viljami Sinisalo set for Celtic debut vs Hearts after Schmeichel injury
The Scottish Sun reports that Rodgers is set to hand Viljami Sinisalo his Celtic league debut against Hearts this weekend.
The report also claims that there are ‘fears’ Schmeichel could be out until September but that will not be confirmed until the full results of the MRI scan on the Celtic hero’s shoulder come through.
The young Finn is a full international with three caps to his name but has only made one appearance for Celtic since signing from Aston Villa in the summer.
Viljami Sinisalo’s career prior to big summer Celtic move
At just 23, Sinisalo has plenty of time to establish himself as Celtic’s number one goalkeeper. Clearly talented, the Finland international has 145 career appearances so far from youth to first team level across many clubs.
So lets take a look at Sinisalo’s career so far as he looks to make his Celtic Park debut vs Hearts:
- Capped three times by Finland
- 50 first-team appearances for Exeter City
- Eight appearances for Burton Albion
- 29 first-team appearances for Ayr United
- Sinisalo played 45 minutes of Finland’s 2-2 draw with Scotland last season and conceded no goals
With Rodgers also having Scott Bain to choose from, will Sinisalo get the Celtic Park nod should Schmeichel be ruled out?
