Celtic’s struggles with injuries this season is something that has really plagued Brendan Rodgers.
The Celtic manager has had to get by without some key players this season and it’s really affected how Celtic have performed on the pitch.
The Hoops boss relinquished a seven-point lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership as Celtic struggled to cope with their injury crisis in December and Stephen McGinn believes that Rodgers must address this in the upcoming transfer window.
McGinn said [The Go Radio Football Show], “I think the way the season’s been, the last eight games fully relying on Cameron Carter-Vickers, Reo Hatate and Callum McGregor being on the pitch, I think the drop off is drastic.
“I think it needs to be addressed in the summer. I mean this season, the defensive situation, how easy it’s been at times to score against Celtic is so unusual under Brendan Rodgers when you consider his first spell.
“So I think it’s something the need to address.”
Celtic’s transfer needs this summer
This has been a hot topic of conversation for the whole of this season. Brendan Rodgers clearly doesn’t rate the players who were recruited in the summer and it has plagued his defence of the title.
I told you yesterday how Celtic have conceded so many needless goals this season and how it could affect the outcome of the title race. It’s scary how soft we are in defence without Cameron Carter-Vickers.
That is one position that needs to be a priority for Celtic. With Joe Hart retiring, that is another obvious area of the team that needs to be fixed.
The lack of creativity when Reo Hatate isn’t available has exposed a glaring deficiency in Celtic’s back-up options as Paulo Bernardo, Odin Thiago Holm and Tomoki Iwata have all failed to fully convince this season.
However, I do admit the Japanese midfielder has done well recently, but still lacks the necessary gametime to fully make his mark.

Greg Taylor needs competition at left-back and Kyogo needs an able backup striker. Despite Adam Idah doing well in his first few games, even he now is starting to show signs of inconsistency at this early stage of his Celtic career.
And what’s happened to Hyeongyu Oh? The South Korean is so far out of the picture he has almost been forgotten about by the Celtic supporters.
There is plenty of work for the Celtic manager to do in the summer and the fans will be hoping that he will be signing new players as the Scottish champions as this title race draws to a close.
