Brendan Rodgers urges Celtic fans to bring ‘incredible’ noise vs Leipzig as patience factor cited

Celtic are preparing to take on RB Leipzig tomorrow at Parkhead and Brendan Rodgers has spoken in his press conference ahead of the powderkeg Champions League tie.

The Bhoys come into this one fresh from thumping Aberdeen in the Premier Sports Cup semi-final on Saturday, continuing a positive recent run of results under the Irishman.

With four points in their opening three Champions League fixtures, Celtic remain in contention for the knockout playoff round, while RB Leipzig could be missing up to six players ahead of their trip to Parkhead.

Despite their excellent start to life in the Bundesliga, the visitors are without a point from their three matches in Europe’s premier competition after losing out to Liverpool, Juventus and Atletico Madrid.

Admittedly, Celtic will need to conjure a special performance to join illustrious company, which is something Brendan Rodgers believes will extend to the stands tomorrow night.

Brendan Rodgers urges Celtic fans to bring the noise

Heightening the occasion, Celtic boss Rodgers has urged supporters to be as vocal as they can tomorrow against Leipzig alongside asking them to stick with the team as his side plot a famous European night at Parkhead.

He stated in his press conference: “Your home games are very, very important at this level and we all know here that when you want the result, supporters can bring you closer to that. I think that intensity will be needed, the noise and what it generates here is absolutely incredible.

“We’ll also need that little bit of patience as well. There’s going to be moments where at times supporters will want you to go forward and want you to press, but we have to be educated in our pressure. For that, that means making sure that everyone is in tune with that.

“You can’t sustain it, you can’t continue to do it against the very, very top teams. There’ll be moments of pressure, there’ll be moments where you’re compact and tight, waiting for that tactical moment to press, and then I’m pretty sure the crowd can get behind the players and hopefully push us to a result.

“I’m really excited by it because we’ve got ourselves after three games into a really good position, two really tough games, a fantastic performance here, and we’ve got another opportunity to show that we can pick up a result against a top, top team.”

Celtic supporters rarely need encouragement to put on a show, so expect Parkhead to be rocking tomorrow night as the Bhoys look to claim a positive result against an elite opponent.
