Away from domestic matters for a minute as we take a look ahead to Celtic’s next Champions League fixture against RB Leipzig.

Celtic have had mixed fortunes in the tournament so far after recording a win, a draw and a defeat in their first three fixtures.

The 5-1 victory over Slovan Bratislava at Celtic Park was wiped out with the Hoops’ confidence-draining defeat at Dortmund.

However, Celtic redeemed themselves in Atalanta after earning a creditable draw which now sets Brendan Rodgers and his team up perfectly for the visit of RB Leipzig next week.

RB Leipzig’s current form ahead of Celtic Park Champions League clash

The Bundesliga side has not been in the best of form in the Champions League. However, domestically the Germans are performing really well.

Leipzig cruised to a 3-1 win over Freiburg at the weekend after going behind in the first half. Goals from Willi Orban, Lütsharel Geertruida and Lois Openda sealed the three points.

Here is how Leipzig is performing this season as they sit joint-top with Bayern Munich at the top of the Bundesliga.

Leipzig’s official website states that as many as six players could miss the Celtic game with number one goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi just making a return to training after a recent injury.

Luis Openda is a doubt for their next match against St Pauli in the German Cup with Xavi Simons (cruciate injury), Nicolas Seiwald (adductor), Nicolas Seiwald (ankle ligaments), Assan Ouedraogo and Xaver Schlager (ACL) all looking likely to miss the trip to Glasgow.

The Bundesliga side are still littered with quality after having spent over £50m bolstering their squad this summer so even with their injury issues, Brendan Rodgers will not take them lightly.
