Denmark boss Brian Riemer has firmly shut down criticisms from former Celtic midfielder Thomas Gravesen regarding the ‘secrecy’ surrounding Kasper Schmeichel’s injury.
Gravesen publicly questioned the lack of clarity from Denmark over the injury, but Riemer maintained that conversations regarding the 39-year-old’s fitness remain a ‘private matter’ between the player and Celtic.
He told Bold via the Daily Record, “Kasper is a goalkeeper who has been a huge part of the Danish national team’s history over a very long time.
“He is probably the one I know who has the biggest and most bleeding heart for Denmark, so it is natural to ask that question.”

Thomas Gravesen told Kasper Schmeichel’s Celtic injury is a ‘private matter’
Riemer went further and said that the injury to Schmeichel was none of Denmark’s business, just Celtic’s.
The Dane continued, “But as I would do with any other player, our conversations are a private matter.
“What I’m dealing with is that Kasper is injured, and everything that concerns his injury and Celtic, I’ll steer the questions that way because it’s none of our business.
“We are focusing on the players we can select.”
Riemer shuts down Schmeichel criticism
Speaking on CBS Sports Golazo just yesterday, Schmeichel revealed the true extent of his shoulder damage: a torn bicep, rotator cuff, and labrum.
With two surgeries scheduled, the first this Friday, and a recovery timeline of 10 to 12 months, the veteran keeper admitted that he could have played his last game for Celtic and his career.
For Celtic, the focus shifts entirely to Viljami Sinisalo. With Schmeichel’s contract expiring this summer and his 40th birthday approaching, the Finnish international is no longer just a deputy.
Sinisalo is the undisputed No.1 for the title run-in, starting with Celtic’s Sunday trip to Dundee United.
While Riemer defends Denmark from Gravesen’s criticism, Celtic fans must now come to terms with the fact that their Great Dane may have already made his final appearance in the Hoops.
