Celtic’s appointment of Wilfried Nancy couldn’t really have gone much worse.
After winning seven in eight under the interim charge of Martin O’Neill, the Hoops team’s form fell off a cliff immediately after the dugout change.
As Celtic struggled to adapt to a completely different system, the appointment looked like more of an aberration every week.
Eventually, Nancy was relieved of his duties on Monday, along with all of his coaching allies and Head of Football Operations in Paul Tisdale.
Simon Jordan isn’t known for holding back when managers lose their jobs, so it’s unsurprising that he’s now had his say.
Let us know!
Simon Jordan on Wilfried Nancy leaving Celtic
O’Neill’s interim spell saw him win seven out of eight games, resurrecting Celtic’s season and re-establishing some momentum,
Nancy, on the other hand, lost six of his eight games in charge, completely destroying said momentum.

And speaking on talkSPORT with Jim White, Jordan simply labelled Nancy a ‘fool’.
He said: “The man was a fool, Jim. He walked into an environment where he clearly wasn’t to manage this side, or manage the expectations of this side, Wilfried Nancy.
“I’m not suggesting he’s not a good man, not suggesting he’s not a decent man; he had the best intentions.
“But he was given a platform by Martin O’Neill – I’m not suggesting Martin will go in there and work the oracle, because who knows?
“He’s now gone from a gig to a job. He had a gig, which is now a job. And the expectations are that he’s the all-conquering hero.
“I think [Nancy] was a fool in the way he approached it. Not a fool in taking the job, but a fool in the way that he approached doing the job. He didn’t need to change anything.
“He had a group of players that were okay in terms of winning games, they’d won seven out of the eight games.
“It can be an evolution – it doesn’t have to be a revolution. Sensible people in any walk of life, rather than ideologues, sit there and go: ‘I’m gonna change this, because I know what I want it to look like…
“‘But do I do a wholesale change, and unilaterally, universally change everything, and then suddenly find out that, actually, I’ve got resistance, I’ve got players who aren’t capable of it, and I’ve got a background of noise where people are already criticising me from the get-go.’
“Why, in God’s name, would you do that?”
What do you think is the main reason Wilfried Nancy couldn’t buy a win as Celtic manager? 🤔
The stats are damning…
Possible candidates to succeed Martin O’Neill at Celtic
Jens Askou of Motherwell has been touted as a possible Celtic manager, given his success so far at Fir Park.
Revisiting previous candidates, Kjetil Knutsen is a name that stands out, given his incredible achievements at Bodo/Glimt.
Kieran McKenna’s name had previously been touted, but there are doubts over whether he could be tempted away from his lucrative long-term deal at Portman Road.
Craig Bellamy and Efrain Juarez were both also of previous interest to Celtic.
