St Johnstone boss Callum Davidson has refused to rule out a loan return for Celtic youngster Adam Montgomery.
The left-sided defender spent the opening half of the Scottish Premiership campaign on loan at McDiarmid Park.
Whilst at the Saints, Montgomery went on to make 17 appearances in total, scoring one goal and picking up three assists from the left-wing back position.

His final game for his temporary side came on the 28th of December, as he played 90 minutes for Callum Davidson’s side in a 3-2 defeat to Hearts.
Earlier this week, Montgomery was spotted back amongst first-team training at Lennoxtown after his short spell in Perth came to an end [Celtic TV].
It remains to be seen what the short-term future holds for Montgomery. However, with minutes unlikely for the left-back at Parkhead, the best move for Celtic may be to send him out on loan once again.
There is going to be a host of clubs interested in the Scotland under-21 international after a strong showing at the Scottish Premiership sides.
However, a return to the St Johnstone squad could still be on the cards after Callum Davidson refused to rule out the possibility when speaking about his first spell at McDiarmid.
He said [The Courier]: “With Adam, we’re in the position where we’ve got Callum and Tony back fully fit and raring to go. We had to bring Adam in due to their long-term injuries.

“Adam did really well for us. He’s a great boy and a great character. He got better and better, and big thanks to him.
“Now we’ve got Callum and Tony fighting for a starting position. It’s up to them. That goes for the whole team.”
Davidson continued: “Things can change.
“I get asked about players, and I’d never say a 100% ‘yes’ or ‘no’ as to whether somebody might come back or somebody might leave.
“There are always moving pieces, and we need to be ready for when things happen.”
Next best step for Celtic would be to find new temporary home for Adam Montgomery.

It certainly seems like Adam Montgomery was a highly valued member of the St Johnstone squad after receiving praise from the manager and former teammates.
So, in a sense, it would be understandable to send him back to the Saints, given that he was already settled into the first-team squad.
However, with Callum Davidson now having a further two left-back options to choose from after their return from injury, Montgomery’s game time at St Johnstone might be limited.
With that in mind, it may be a better choice for Celtic to find a new temporary home for the academy youngster to continue playing regular first-team minutes.
Ange Postecoglou is clearly a fan after giving the versatile defender first-team minutes in the opening half of last season.
So it is important that he continues his development, and the best way to do that is by playing football. You would expect another loan move might just be around the corner.
