Callum McGregor dodges optimistic media question; says Celtic Park words will “remain private”

Callum McGregor put his own stamp on the Celtic captaincy on Sunday when he grouped his team-mates in a huddle after the win over Dundee.

Ange Postecoglou’s Celts had been scintillating in the 6-0 win, with McGregor once again running the show in midfield.

Yesterday, the skipper was in front of the media, and he was optimistically asked what had been said inside the post-match huddle.

But McGregor wasn’t for letting anyone in on the secret.

“What I said to the players will obviously remain private, for that reason,” he said. (Celtic YouTube)

“But it’s just good to show the togetherness. A lot of new players experiencing Celtic Park for the first time in a league match.

“It’s just important that they feel the importance of winning at Celtic, at Celtic Park, in style.

“We just continue to work ever so hard in training. In the games we perform as best we possibly can, and we try to send the supporters home happy every week if we can.”

The post-match huddle was the latest example of great leadership from Callum McGregor

Anyone fancy an Amazon Prime ‘All or Nothing’ Celtic docu-series?

That’s probably the only way we’d find out what McGregor said post-match, because he isn’t for telling anyone else.

McGregor is handling himself really well as Celtic captain.

He speaks with a calmness, as was shown in his polite but assertive response to the optimistic question.

More importantly, McGregor is leading Celtic on the pitch, and playing an important role in Ange’s tactics.

Almost every attack seems to go through McGregor at some stage, in that regard he could be our most important player this season.
