Celtic’s USA Summer Tour has gone extremely well for the Parkhead club so far.

With the players visiting The White House and some of the young academy players impressing in the 4-0 win over DC United, Brendan Rodgers couldn’t have asked for a better start to what has been billed as a tough test for his team.

With the team landing in North Carolina for the game against Manchester City in the early hours of Wednesday morning, Celtic captain, Callum McGregor, looked forward to the game against the Premier League club by explaining what he thought was ‘excellent’ about the win over DC United.

Celtic ‘in a good place’ ahead of Man City friendly

McGregor started the game on the bench as Matt O’Riley was handed the captain’s armband. Coming on as a substitute, the Hoops hero explained what he enjoyed most about the rout of the MLS side.

McGregor said [Celtic TV], “It was great, obviously, to go and see somewhere that we haven’t seen before as well was was nice.

“The boys did a wee bit of sightseeing when they were there so that side of it was nice, but as always, first and foremost, it’s about business in terms of the work and training.

“The game last night was excellent as well. A lot of the things that we look for in the game were there so we are in a good place in that sense.

“And then obviously, we’re here today and looking forward to the next game and then obviously in the last leg we’ll have another tough test as well.”

And to be fair, the scoreline didn’t do the number of chances Celtic created in the game justice. A double from O’Riley was followed up by a goal from James Forrest and Mikey Johnston, who also missed a penalty.

Hyunjun Yang also looked sharp when he came on as young Colby Donovan also impressed.

All in all, it was a decent run out against a team who are well into their season but what comes next for Celtic is massive.

Manchester City await the Bhoys and they will need to be at their best if they want to come out as victors in this game.
