Callum Osmand has officially been confirmed as Celtic’s fourth signing of the summer.
Osmand was unveiled by the Hoops on Monday and has signed from Fulham on a four-year deal at Celtic Park.
The striker scored plenty of goals at youth level for Fulham and has followed a similar pathway to the one that former Hoops hero Moussa Dembele did.
After being announced by Celtic, their latest striking addition revealed how a conversation with a former fan favourite helped to make his decision.
Callum Osmand reveals he spoke to Matt O’Riley before Celtic move
A deal to sign Osmand has been in the pipeline for a while and it’s clear to see that Brendan Rodgers is planning to use him in the first team.
The 19-year-old will have to compete with Adam Idah and Johnny Kenny for the number nine role, as well as Daizen Maeda and Benjamin Nygren, but that won’t faze him.
Joining Celtic is prestigious for anyone and in his first interview for the club, Osmand revealed that he spoke with Matt O’Riley to get his thoughts.

He told Celtic TV: “It feels unbelievable to be here and I am so happy to be here. It is a big step for me, and I am excited to get going.
“It’s a massive move and I can’t wait to step out at Celtic Park in front of all the fans.
“When I spoke to the manager, he was really positive. The plan and pathway he has set out for the club is top, so it’s exciting with the pathway he has for me.
“He has set out what he wants from me, and it is all really positive, so I can’t wait to get going now.
“I’ve also spoken to Matt O’Riley on the phone, so he has given me advice. He was telling me about how big the club is, how amazing the fans are and it’s a new life really. So excited is definitely the word for me.”
When will Callum Osmand make his Celtic debut?
Now that his signing has been officially announced, Osmand is set to link up with the Celtic first team squad and begin his pre-season preparations.
There is every chance that the Celtic manager could include him in the squad for the Hoops’ first game of their 2025 pre-season preparations as they make the short trip across Glasgow to play Queens Park.
Kieran Tierney and Nygren are unlikely to be involved as they return at a later date due to their international duties in June but those tuning in could get to see their new Bhoy in the green and white for the first time.
