Celtic will be hoping to go into the international break off the back of a win this weekend.

The Hoops face Motherwell at Celtic Park, days after they were beaten by Braga in the Europa League.

Brendan Rodgers‘ side are yet to win in Europe this season and the disappointing result on Thursday night was met with a chorus of boos.

Not everything went Celtic’s way, granted, but a poor piece of goalkeeping and the failure to clear their lines cost them dearly.

Despite this, Cameron Carter-Vickers‘ assessment of the game may shock some supporters.

Cameron Carter-Vickers thought Celtic played well against Braga

Results matter in football and even if you’re playing well, coming away with nothing doesn’t suit anyone.

Carter-Vickers is well aware of that, but felt that their performance didn’t reflect the outcome of the game.

He said: “It might sound a bit crazy after losing 2-0, but I don’t think the performance was terrible.

The result was but performance-wise I think there is a lot we can build on.

“There are still six games left in our schedule, and if we can get the results we want, we will be in a good position. At the end of this European campaign, then we can assess where we are compared to last season, but of course, we want to be winning our home games.”

Celtic are in danger of letting Hearts pull away

Motherwell at home is a must-win for Celtic.

While Rangers linger in the lower half of the Scottish Premiership table, Hearts are aiming to upset the apple cart.

If Celtic fail to win, then serious questions will need to be asked.
