On Thursday afternoon, Celtic announced the pre-season plans for the 2022/23 season, with Ange Postecoglou’s side travelling to Austria.

The Hoops will also take on Blackburn Rovers and Norwich City at Celtic Park to round off pre-season.

A further friendly has been added to the schedule this evening after club announced that they would be heading to Czech Republic to take on first division side Banik Ostrava on Wednesday the 13th of July.

Banik Ostrava currently sits fifth in the Czech top flight, also having three games left of the season to play.

Celtic will travel to the Czech Republic upon the end of the 10-day training camp in Austria after being invited to take on Ostrava in a ‘specially-arranged’ match to celebrate their centenary year.

Postecoglou and his squad will have further fixtures to look forward to before playing at the Mestsky Stadium, with other games expected to be announced for the Austrian training camp.

This will be the first time Ange has been able to travel abroad with the players, having spent last campaign’s pre-season in Wales due to the Covid-19 restrictions.

Many fans are already excited at the prospect of this group of players having a pre-season under Ange.

After such a hectic season this campaign, the time in Austria could prove as a good opportunity for the 56-year old to get to work with his players in more depth.

I am sure there will be plenty that the Celtic boss will look to rectify heading into the 2022/23 campaign, despite such a brilliant first season in charge.

For now, though, Postecoglou’s side will be strictly focused on this season and finishing the job at hand in the final three games of the Scottish Premiership.
