The Celtic board are starting to read the room.

After a disastrous transfer window and a failure to reach the Champions League, fans have had enough of Michael Nicholson, Peter Lawwell, Dermot Desmond and others.

Votes of no confidence have been lodged against the board, while fan groups and organisations have agreed upon a four-point plan to oust the current hierarchy.

Amid the extreme tensions between fans and board, Celtic are being very careful what they post on their official social media accounts.

They delivered an exclusive Kelechi Iheanacho interview for free that otherwise would have been hidden behind a paywall.

And now the club have dropped a new range of adidas Originals clothing, but have decided not to promote it via social media.

Celtic avoid publicising new adidas merch on social media

Located on the Official Celtic Store website, the club have dropped six new items of adidas Originals clothing worth a combined £465.

The range is called ‘Terrace Icons’ and fans can choose to buy between a pullover, long sleeved polo shirt, jersey, trousers, track top and quarter zip.

The track top is the most expensive piece of clothing priced at £100, while the cheapest is the £60 polo shirt.

Celtic fans have been keen on new adidas Originals merch, but amid the unrest between them and the board, it’s expected sales will be low.

It comes after the Hoops confirmed pricing for the four-match Europa League package, and that seriously did not go down well with supporters.

Celtic and adidas agreed partnership extension in May

Fans better get used to Celtic delivering adidas merch in the club shop, as the pair extended their agreement in May this year.

The deal was initially signed in 2020 and was reported to be worth £25m to Celtic. But the extension means the contract runs for a further 10 years and is now worth around £30m.

This may be great news for some who like adidas clothing, but some have been unhappy at the pricing of the merch.

And when the cheapest item of clothing in the new ‘Terrace Icons’ range is worth £60, Celtic and adidas are not helping themselves at a time when fan relations are broken.
