Ange Postecoglou has insisted he is not concerned about the contract situation of any of his players, preferring to judge them on what he sees in Celtic training every day.
A report earlier this week indicated that Giorgos Giakoumakis has rejected improved terms at the club. While his current deal runs until 2026, The Daily Record stated this situation could mean he ends up making a January exit.
Asked about Giakoumakis at a media conference today, Postecoglou gave a pretty general but informative answer on his stance when these matters pop up.

The Bhoys boss said [Celtic YouTube]: “I don’t have those kind of discussions and what I deal with is what I see every day.
“How a player trains and presents himself here, that is what I deal with. If I see there is any shift there or people are unhappy, or have some issues, I’ll deal with it. Right now, all I see is the players here training and committed to us as a football club. That is all that concerns me.
“Beyond that, with there contracts, they have representatives who look after them. If there are any issues, they’ll come across my desk. But that is in the background. What’s more important to me is what I see every day. If I am happy with it, all good, if not I’ll deal with it then.”
Clearly, Postecoglou isn’t worried about any of the players trying their hardest for Celtic, which is what is most important with a busy upcoming schedule. The rest will take care of itself.
At the AGM last month, the Celtic manager also insisted that a player trading model of ins and outs will be pursued to maximise the value of his squad and the buying power of the club. That may result in first-team favourites leaving.
What will be, will be when it comes to Giakoumakis’ long-term future. As you can see, Postecoglou will be the last man caught unaware or left ‘shocked’ by any dvelopments.
