Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou laughs off bitter Rangers claim

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou disarmed Michael Beale’s claim that he is lucky for having such a big transfer budget with an amusing response this weekend.

Beale sounded a bit bitter last week talking about Postecoglou’s ability to spend money at the Scottish champions stating: “Ange is a lucky man because he’s spent a lot of money.”

Rather than get in a back-and-forth with the Ibrox man, Postecoglou instead listed the reasons he is lucky, laughing off the comments coming from Rangers.

As quoted by The Scottish Daily Mail [14/01 print edition, page 119], the Celtic boss said: “I agree, mate. I’m an extremely lucky man.

“I work for a fantastic football club with fantastic people. I’ve got a beautiful family. I’ve been doing this for 25 years now and long may it continue.”

Beale seems to enjoy doing a lot of talking about Celtic. He’s been at it constantly since arriving from England. Postecoglou clearly isn’t interested in returning the favour, always remaining focused on the Bhoys.

Beale’s ‘lucky’ claim never had much merit. Postecoglou could have taken it apart if he had wanted to, pointing out the money generated for Celtic transfers comes primarily from player sales – there’s no benefactor or odd loans propping up the Bhoys.

Instead, though, the Celtic boss has again risen above and given the perfect response, making his detractors look foolish.

With no sign of anyone catching his team in Scottish football this season, Postecoglou will likely be able to take his ultimate victory lap in May.
