Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has been reflecting on a superb Trophy Day at Celtic Park on Saturday, having watched his team thrash Aberdeen 5-0 before lifting the Scottish Premiership title.

Postecoglou was visibly jubilant throughout the afternoon and even delivered a rousing on-the-mic address to the 60,000 fans in attendance.

The tone for a special day was set by those fans before kick-off, as a massive full-stadium tifo organised by The Green Brigade was unveiled honouring legendary managers Willie Maley and Jock Stein. A message accompanying that said, “Stand On The Shoulders Of Giants,” and was emblazoned across the entire North Stand.

Ange Postecoglou reflects on Celtic Trophy Day

The manager was left impressed. Speaking about that display and what transpired on Saturday, Postecoglou told Celtic TV: “Nothing’s insignificant. Everything’s part of the story and part of the journey. We had a really nice Trophy Day last year and we wanted to make the experience good this year.

“I just thought the whole day was fantastic. From when we arrived at the ground and Martin O’Neill led us up with the trophy, to walking out to that display by the fans was just outstanding.

“The players did their bit. I thought the performance encapsulated everything we’ve been this year. We were exciting, hard-working, and relentless and the quality of our goals was brilliant.

“The levels the lads have reached this year in terms of performance, the results speak for themselves. You don’t end up champions unless you’ve been really consistent. It’s a credit to all of them, coming off the success of last year. They did it in some style, which makes me feel very proud.”

Similar scenes could be witnessed this weekend as the Bhoys take on Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the Scottish Cup Final. Celtic are red-hot favourites to win the showpiece encounter and end the season as treble winners.

That achievement would spark another fan party in the stands and elsewhere in Glasgow, sending off the team towards a very well-deserved summer break.
