Celtic brutally answered Wall Street Journal Hearts hype after title win

Celtic’s social media team only needed two characters to completely kill the Hearts title narrative.

The Parkhead club were crowned champions after Celtic beat Hearts 3-1 to record their fifth title in a row.

However, just hours before the Wall Street Journal claimed Hearts were “on the verge of breaking four decades of dominance by Celtic and Rangers”.

But Celtic responded after winning the title with a simple but brutal rebuttal on social media.

Wall Street Journal Hearts narrative did not survive Celtic reality

Hearts absolutely deserved credit for pushing Celtic all the way. They led the Premiership for large parts of the season and made this a genuine title race. But Celtic still sealed the title when the pressure was highest.

The issue was never the suggestion that Hearts were having an improbable season. They were. The problem was treating Celtic and Rangers dominance like something already ending before the job was done.

Celtic ultimately finished two points clear and secured five-in-a-row anyway. That is why the timing of the club’s post landed so perfectly.

There was no need for a statement or a long-winded response. Celtic simply let the league table do the talking.

Celtic’s reply to The Wall Street Journal is top tier banter

The funniest part was how understated it was. No direct mention of the Wall Street Journal. No argument. No attempt to explain anything.

Just “🆗”.

Supporters instantly understood the message because the context was obvious. Celtic had once again answered the biggest challenge domestically and done it by winning another title.

This was also not some isolated success story. Celtic have now won 14 titles in 15 seasons. That is the reality anybody discussing Scottish football has to deal with first.

Celtic answered the hype where it mattered most, on the pitch. The social media post just finished the job.
