Brendan Rodgers is likely to add some fresh faces to Celtic’s squad for next season.

That process began after Celtic signed Kieran Tierney of a pre-contract deal with Arsenal in the January transfer window.

Rodgers still has a number of positions to strengthen to help Celtic not only defend their upcoming Scottish Premiership win but to also continue their good work in the Champions League.

And it seems that the Celtic manager has renewed his focus on a player who was Arne Engels’ international teammate in the Belgian U21 squad.

Celtic renew transfer interest in Royal Antwerp’s Michel-Ange Balikwisha

The Scottish Sun has reported that Celtic have renewed their interest in Belgian Pro League winger, Michel-Ange Balikwisha.

Balikwisha caught Celtic’s eye over eight months ago but the summer transfer interest never really amounted to much.

However, Brendan Rodgers took another look at former Belgian U21 winger back in December as Celtic looked to freshen up the squad but Balikwisha opted to stay in Belgium.

But it seems that the Celtic manager is not letting this one go after sending scouts to watch the 23-year-old left-winger in Antwerp’s 5-1 defeat to Union Saint-Gilloise at the weekend.

What Michel-Ange Balikwisha has previously said about Celtic’s interest

The young winger has clearly caught Celtic’s eye over the past eight months and being linked to one of the biggest clubs in Europe would appeal to most players.

And whilst Balikwisha opted to stay at his club in January, he did leave the door open for a summer transfer move to Celtic Park when he last spoke about Rodgers’ interest.

Balikwisha said: “Celtic’s interest was concrete, but I chose to stay.

“Leaving with an injury was not ideal. I’d rather take good care of myself so I could be ready for the playoffs with Antwerp.

“We’ll see in the summer transfer window.”
