Celtic could be in line to receive more than they expected if Luis Palma signs for Lech Poznan permanently.

The Honduran has been in top form for the Polish side this season, with the winger becoming a fan favourite among the Poznan faithful.

Palma scored against Rayo Vallecano to take the number of goal contributions to 10 in all competitions this season.

As part of the loan agreement, there is an option for the winger to join Poznan on a permanent basis, but there is an added bonus.

Lech Poznan chief confirms the actual release clause in Luis Palma’s contract

In an eye-opening interview from the chiefs at Poznan, the Polish giants revealed that they had been told to double their current record fee spent on a player to keep the 25-year-old.

Maciej Henszel, the club’s director of communications, told local radio that they would have to spend around £4m to sign the wide man to extend his stay.

He said: “We have a release clause.

“It doesn’t seem possible to lower it. I don’t think it’s negotiable. It’s not an easy matter.

“To buy Palma, we have to break our transfer record by about two times.

“In the spring, we’ll decide whether the club can afford such a transfer and whether Luis can maintain his form.”

Luis Palma thriving in his new role

Since making the move to Poland, Palma has seemingly rediscovered his best form following an inconsistent couple of years at Celtic.

One of the big changes has been that Palma has started playing in a new position.

Instead of out wide, the Honduras star has been deployed in the number 10 position and seems to be a player reborn.
