Celtic may have endured a tough night on the continental stage, but they weren’t the only ones.

The Hoops were beaten 3-1 by FC Midtjylland on a night to forget for Martin O’Neill’s side.

Midtjylland raced into a 3-0 lead before the break, with Reo Hatate’s penalty coming too late for any genuine hopes of a comeback.

Youngster Callum Osmand was also stretchered off with a hamstring injury andthere is no timeline on when he is expected to return.

While it was an evening to forget, two former Hoops players also felt the same pain.

Vasilis Barkas sent off for Utrecht in Porto draw

Vasilis Barkas is one of two former players Celtic will play in the Europa League, but there is a chance the Greek goalkeeper may not be able to play following his red card.

Despite Utrecht earning their first point of the campaign with a 1-1 draw against FC Porto, Barkas was shown a straight red card for headbutting Gabri Veiga.

Barkas reacted after Veiga tried to retrieve the ball following Borja Sainz’s equaliser for the visitors and the headbutt from the goalkeeper gave referee John Beaton no other option but to send him off.

Luis Palma scores but Lech Poznan throw away two-goal lead

Luis Palma has been in great form for Lech Poznan for this season and continued that trend by giving the Polish side the lead in the Europa Conference League contest against Rayo Vallecano.

Poznan then found themselves 2-0 up and cruising, with the expectation being that they were going to return to Poland with all three points.

However, a spectacular second-half collapse saw Poznan concede three goals without reply, including two goals in the last 10 minutes.

That result leaves Palma and his side 23rd in the table and in danger of potentially not qualifying for the next stage of the competition.
