Celtic have been drawn against Bayer Leverkusen, Real Betis and Ferencvaros in the UEFA Europa League group stage this season.

The draw has just been made from Istanbul in Turkey, where Celtic were in Pot 2.

Leverkusen were the team from Pot 1, while Real Betis and Ferencvaros entered from Pot 3 and Pot 4 respectively.

Regardless of who we got in today’s draw, we knew it was going to be a tough group. The Europa League has reduced to 32 teams from 48, meaning there’s a higher barrier of entry and increased quality as a result.

However, being drawn from teams from the Bundesliga and La Liga certainly adds extra danger and glamour to the set of fixtures.

There’s also the small matter of a reunion with Jeremie Frimpong, who joined the German outfit earlier this year.

The subplot surrounding Ferencvaros is also strong, given they were the team that knocked us out of the Champions League last season, famously.

It’s a group full of drama, reunions, prestige and challenge for Ange Postecoglou and the Bhoys.

Fans are certainly relishing the prospect of going to the games and seeing this team test themselves across the continent.

These supporters have taken to Twitter this morning to share their thoughts on it all…
