Celtic have announced that Paul Tisdale has joined the club as the Head of Football Operations this afternoon.
67 Hail Hail discussed how reports linked Tisdale to Celtic last week as the club looked to strengthen their backroom team after the departures of Mark Lawwell and Joe Dudgeon back in March of this year.
The potential arrival of Tisdale caused much conversation amongst the Celtic fans over the last seven days with many wanting to know what his exact role will be at the club.
But now that role has been made clear as Celtic lay out exactly what Tisdale will be responsible for now that his position at the club has been made official.
Paul Tisdale to ‘oversee’ Celtic’s football operations
In a statement released on the club’s official website, Celtic said, “We are delighted to welcome Paul Tisdale to the Club as our Head of Football Operations.
“Paul has already been working closely with Michael, Brendan and our recruitment team over the past few months and we are delighted to have him join us on a more permanent basis.
“Moving forward, Paul will oversee the development and management of effective football operations which will support high-level football performance, including the identification and development of talent.
“In doing so he will provide leadership and direction to our First Team and Boys Academy recruitment departments, working closely with Jay Lefevre, Willie McStay and their teams.
“He will also support our Professional Player Pathway Manager, Darren O’Dea, ensuring continued alignment and growth of our player pathways, supporting our ongoing objective of developing Champions League players.
“Paul brings with him a wealth of experience from the football environment, including recruitment, football operations, leadership, analytics and innovation, we are delighted to have him working within this strategic role.

Celtic recruitment needs Paul Tisdale should focus on
As previously discussed on 67 Hail Hail, Celtic have a number of positions in the first team that need to be strengthened and addressed over the coming months.
Greg Taylor’s contract situation needs sorted out as well as looking at finding a permanent solution to either strengthening the left-back position or having a proper backup.
Celtic also need to look at ensuring there is a steady flow of young talent coming through and progressing to the first team and the support will be delighted that Tisdale will be taking an active role in that.
This is a very positive move by Celtic and one that the fans will hope to see benefit the club’s success not just domestically but also on the European stage.
