Away from the madness of the Glasgow Derby and onto some transfer news as Celtic look to build for next season.
Brendan Rodgers‘ focus is obviously on the title race at the moment but it seems that the club are busy working away in the background looking to strengthen the side for next season.
With several positions needing to be looked at, the Celtic manager knows that he needs to get some decent competition for Greg Taylor.
Rodgers also needs a strong partner for Cameron Carter-Vickers, either sign Adam Idah or go and buy another striker and/or look for a possible replacement for Matt O’Riley who is being heavily tipped for a Celtic exit in the summer.
But there is a priority position that Rodgers must look at this summer as Joe Hart will be on his way out due to his retirement at the end of the season.
And it seems that Celtic are looking to the German Bundesliga and Werder Bremen goalkeeper, Michael Zetterer according to a report from Bild.
Michael Zetterer ‘fits’ Celtic’s profile
According to Bild, Zetterer is enjoying the best season of his career as the 28-year-old has firmly established himself as the number one choice.
Normally backup to Jiri Pavlenka, Zetterer has made 21 appearances and claimed five clean sheets as he helps to keep Werder Bremen clear of the relegation battle.
However, there does seem to be an issue with his contract.
The report from Bild claims that Werder wants to extend his current deal that expires next summer but he’s still contracted as a ‘substitute’ ‘keeper.
Werder will not upgrade his status to a first-team ‘keeper and that has led to Zetterer being ‘hesitant’ to commit to a new deal and he is now ‘monitoring’ the transfer market.

The report says Celtic have been keeping a close eye on Zetterer and that they have ‘taken a liking’ to the German’s qualities which ‘fit’ Celtic’s profile.
Zetterer has won the second-tier Bavarian Cup in 2015 with SpVgg Unterhaching and the fourth-tier German Regionalla North Championship with Werder reserves in 2015. [Transfermarkt]
He has been with the German side for ten years after he was purchased for €100,000 (£85,570) in 2015 but has struggled to make that No 1 goalkeeping spot his own until this season. [Bild]
