Masters Football returns tonight at the Braehead Arena in Glasgow in front of a sold-out crowd, with Celtic going up against Rangers, Liverpool and Manchester United.

The tournament is a six-a-side round-robin format with 16-minute games. Celtic will play every team at least once.

It’s been popular down the years and was once broadcast on Sky Sports. However, this is the first time for 11 years it has taken place in the UK and a host of big names are taking part.

Who is playing in Masters Football tonight?

The Celtic team is a mixed bag but there are some popular names involved with Rab Douglas, Mark Wilson, Kelvin Wilson, Joe Ledley, Stiliyan Petrov, Kris Commons, Simon Donnelly and Carlton Cole lining up.

Rangers are calling on Roy Carroll, Carlos Cuellar, Alan Hutton, Barry Ferguson, Lee McCulloch, Pedro Mendes, Michael Mols and Kris Boyd.

Liverpool line up with Sander Westerveld, Jamie Carragher, Stewart Downing, David Thompson, Steve McManaman, Jermaine Pennant, Luis Garcia and Robbie Fowler. Stephen Warnock had been due to play but Fowler has taken his place after illness.

The final team taking part is Manchester United with Paul Rachunka, John O’Shea, Wes Brown, Quinton Fortune, Darron Gibson, Karel Poborsky, Louis Saha all playing. Another unnamed player is also involved.

How to watch Masters Football tournament

As stated, tickets are sold out for the event so there’s no way to watch in person. However, it is being broadcast live on the 360 Sports TV service.

They are currently offering monthly subscriptions for just £0.99 via their website, which means it’s a pretty low barrier of entry for anyone hoping to watch on casually.

The event is also available to watch live outside of the UK & Ireland on Facebook for the same price.

Hopefully, the Celtic group can do the name proud, although that Liverpool line-up is looking pretty dangerous to me.

It all kicks off at 7:30pm, so if you’re at a loose end this evening, there are worse ways to spend the time!
