Neil Lennon has all but ruled Odsonne Edouard out of Celtic’s trip to Pittodrie on Sunday, making the comments whilst appearing on BT Sport.
The Hoops striker has only just returned from a period of self-isolation in France after testing positive for Covid-19. He didn’t feature in the recent loss to Rangers. Now it seems that the huge game against Aberdeen will also come too soon for the Frenchman. Lennon will now be left with a big decision to make about his strikers.
“He hasn’t done a lot”
“Odsonne I doubt would be available for the weekend, we’ll just have to wait and see, he hasn’t done a lot, just a little bit of cardiac, a little bit of jogging around” Lennon said, whilst appearing on BT Sport 3 (22/10/20, 22:10) after Celtic’s loss to Milan.
The timing of Edouard’s diagnosis has been really bad for Celtic. It has meant that arguably the club’s best player has missed games against Rangers and Milan. Now he is a major doubt for a very difficult away trip.
It would have been a shock to see Edouard back so soon after catching a disease which has created havoc in the world though.
Who will play up-front?
Neil Lennon is also left with a bit of a selection headache for the game at Pittodrie. He will need to decide who will replace Edouard up front for the game. None of the three players who have played as a striker in the last three games – Leigh Griffiths, Patryk Klimala and Albian Ajeti – have overtly impressed in the role.

However, one of those players will need to play up-front for Celtic in a very important game. Maybe even two, if Lennon plays with two strikers, like he did in the first 45 minutes against Milan.
It is a decision that the Celtic boss will need to get exactly right, if the Hoops are to have the best chance of getting back to winning ways.
In other news, Gordon Strachan has selection advice for Neil Lennon for the trip to Aberdeen.
