This Celtic team that Wilfried Nancy has is probably one of the weakest in a long, long time.
The lack of quality in the starting XI and the lack of depth in the Celtic first team squad are alarming and being brutally exposed this season.
Of course, none of that is Wilfried Nancy’s fault. The Hoops gaffer cannot be faulted for the poor recruitment that he has inherited.
What Nancy is guilty of is not using the personnel that he has to the best of their ability in order to keep Celtic in the title race.
Could this formation be used at Celtic by Wilfried Nancy? Let us know how you would line up in the comments.
So when Stiliyan Petrov delivered his verdict on the players that Nancy has to choose from, many Celtic supporters were simply not having it.

Stiliyan Petrov claims the current Celtic squad ‘is far from weak’
Petrov was speaking ahead of Celtic’s defeat to Dundee United when he took to social media to defend the current players in the squad.
Petrov said on X, “The squad is far from weak. This team knows how to win.
“They’ve done it for many years now.
I am all for protecting players from unnecessary criticism but Celtic supporters are not daft, they can spot a poor squad from a mile away.
If anything, Petrov should at least be honest about the state of the Celtic squad because the fans in the replies were.
Celtic fans stunned by Stiliyan Petrov’s take on Nancy’s team
Celtic supporters couldn’t believe what Petrov was saying and were quick to shoot down his take on the team.
@theceltsarehere was dumbfounded by Petrov’s tweet and said, “I’ve got a lot of respect for you but this is an incredible take.”
This sentiment was shared by @DerekHayden69 as he said, “You can’t be serious Stan, it’s threadbare with a serious lack of quality.”
And @brianflynn2 named ten Celtic players he says are simply not good enough, “Schmeichel, Ralston, Scales, Kenny, Shin, Yang, Forrest, Tounekti, Balikwisha,Nygren.
“Not one of the players are good enough and there’s plenty more on the periphery also. That’s a weak squad.”
@ruchillbhoy79 was having none of it and said, “Stan, they are weak. There’s not much difference from a back four to a back three with wingbacks.
“But they’re making it look the last few games at times like they’ve never played together. We need them to show fight first then talent will take over.”
With Aberdeen up next, Celtic and Nancy are now turning every single fixture into must-win games and that’s a pressure the Frenchman doesn’t really need right now.
