Celtic fans unsure on starting Sebastian Tounekti vs Stuttgart

Martin O’Neill had plenty of praise for Tounekti and while supporters acknowledged that he was a huge part of the Bhoys’ turnaround, the decision to start him has left fans divided.

One person said: “A no-brainer for me. He looks more engaged, is offering more during games and has stood up tall when Celtic needed him most. Drop Daizen Maeda.”

However, another fan commented: “Tounekti is an impact player. Poor when on from the start IMO. Although the Japanese bhoys time are up I’d still start with Maeda. Hatate can go on gardening leave for all I care!”

This person added: “Stuttgart game is irellevent. Why risk injury?”

A fourth said: “Tounekti is a good player but a bit greedy at times.”

Sebastian Tounekti now needs to be a consistent Celtic player

The goal against Kilmarnock was his fourth of the season, and could be one of his most important.

He can bask in the moment for now but for a player who cost more than £5m, you would expect to see him on the scoresheet even more.

Cameos off the bench are all well and good, but now we need to see him deliver for the full 90 minutes.

Daizen Maeda is expected to leave in the summer, so this is the chance for the winger to nail down his spot in the team.
