Celtic fans send Brendan Rodgers a message about his treatment of Shin Yamada

Shin Yamada arrived at Celtic to relatively low fanfare.

Yamada was first linked to Celtic back in June as the Parkhead scouts looked to bring in some new talent in the summer transfer window.

When Celtic announced the deal, many fans were left confused as to why the club signed a player who, at 25, had only been playing professional football for two seasons.

However, with an Asian Champions League and Japanese title under his belt, it’s clear Yamada has something about him that Celtic liked.

So after Celtic’s full Europa League squad was announced last night, it raised one big question for many fans.

Celtic’s Europa League squad causes fan outrage over Shin Yamada

Yamada was left out of the squad whilst players like Hyunjun Yang who wanted to leave the club and Johnny Kenny, who was told he was going out on loan, were both included.

And it has left Celtic fans absolutely bemused.

@kevmcguiremusic was perplexed and said, “Shin Yamada’s cameo was arguably the one wee bit of positivity from Sunday.

“Held ball up well, won free kicks, got involved. Definitely feel there’s something there. Technically our main striker signing of the summer.

“Dropped from the Euro squad 😂.”

@BhoysOnThePulse had a different take, “Not mad about that. Only question mark is trusting an unfit Iheanacho over a match ready Shin. Not that I have much faith in either of them to be fair.”

@jg2394044 is left baffled with the decision and said, “But we’re told the magic hat guy [Paul Tisdale] is a Rodgers man. Baffling again.

“And if this politics with the board continues, it’s really going to take over the season as the media will be all over it and cause chaos every week. Needs to be put to bed until he leaves, or WHEN the board leaves.”

What Brendan Rodgers said about Shin Yamada at Celtic makes Europa League decision more baffling

When Celtic announced Yamada, Brendan Rodgers seemed delighted at the move.

Speaking about the Japanese striker, Rodgers said at the time, “I know [Yamada] is really keen to make his mark here in European football and deliver for Celtic, and I think he is someone who has the power, athleticism and intensity in his play to do really well for us.”

“[Yamada] is a strong player who can score and create goals for others, and I think he is someone who can definitely add an important dimension to our forward line.”

So important that he was left out of the Europa League for Yang? Very baffling indeed.
