Just when Celtic fans thought the board couldn’t do anything more to annoy them this summer, they pull a rabbit out of the hat on Friday night.
Celtic faced Falkirk in the League Cup as Brendan Rodgers looked to get the defence of the first piece of silverware he won last season started.
As Rodgers negotiated the tie with a comfortable 4-1 win, the Celtic board appeared to make life difficult for fans heading to the stadium.
And fans complained to Celtic’s Supporter Liaison officer all about it after the ‘shambles’ they had to encounter at the stadium.

Celtic fans rage at ‘crowd management system’ at Parkhead
Fans arriving at Celtic Park on Friday night were met with a new ‘crowd management system’ and it appears that the new system was shambolic at best.
@chrismac1888 said of the new system, “Absolute shambles. Celtic totally not got a clue when it comes to fans, we are no longer fans, we are a £ sign and nothing more. I think it’s time for a modern board to go with the times we are now in.”
@p_bov1 also added, “Fans were almost killed the last time a metal barrier was introduced as a crowd control measure at Celtic Park in the North stand walkway.
“What on earth was the club thinking introducing something similar internally inside the stadium completely unannounced? Major safety issue.”
And finally, @katedunbar61 said, “It’s a riot waiting to happen and it will cause someone a serious injury. When it does it must be against health and safety regulations as well. I can’t believe we’re being treated like this in our own stadium. Whatever next?”
What Celtic said about the new crowd safety management system
As far as we could see, there was nothing announced about this on social media channels or even on Celtic’s official matchday information.
However, it appears that there was some sort of action being hinted at in a video on Celtic’s matchday page which said crowd control measures would be taken.
Just after the video, the club said, “Please note, as an additional measure to prevent overcrowding we will be introducing concourse ticket checks which will be deployed predominantly in the North Lower and Lisbon Lions Lower Stands to ensure that concourses are kept clear and that fans remain in their correct area of the stadium.”
Nothing about barriers, right enough so it will be interesting to see what the club says on this moving forward.
